9.  How much does a floor cost? If you have an existing concrete slab that’s ready for staining, polishing or the application of a decorative coating or overlay, most decorative concrete floor installations can be quite cost-effective.
The cost to apply a decorative floor finish ranges between:
● $2 to $6 per square foot for a basic design
● $7 to $14 for a mid-range design
● $15 to $30 for a high-end, customized floor
Flooring details such as the size, colors, finish, and customization can greatly affect the bottom line. In addition, factors like additional surface preparation or working around obstacles like cabinets can also influence the price.
10.  Do you do only residential or commercial or both?  We do both, and would love to help you with your home or place of business.
11.  Can you show us some of your work?  We sure can take a look at our social media sites like facebook, youtube, instagram, or you can see some of our work by clicking here too.
12.  How long are your quotes good for? Quotes are good for 30 days unless otherwise noted.
13.  How long does a job take?  This will vary on the amount of surface preparation work required and the chosen flooring system. Some projects can be done in one day or some can take multiple days. Almost all of our jobs are completed and in use in 1 week.
14. What Affects the Cost of Concrete Floors?  There are a number of factors that can greatly increase or reduce the cost of a decorative concrete floor. Some you can control, such as the complexity of the project, and others you can’t, such as the floor size and existing condition. Here are some issues that can have a big impact on what you’ll pay:
Size of the Floor - Typically, the larger the floor area, the lower the cost per square foot. For example, the square-foot price for a small residential floor is likely to be higher than the square-foot price for a large commercial floor, simply due to what could be compared to a bulk discount.
Shape of the Floor - Additional charges will be incurred for surface areas that have angles or curves, multiple doorways that need cut-outs, stairs, cabinets or obstacles to work around, etc.
Material Requirements - Using multiple colors of stain or dye on your floor will not only increase your material costs, but also the labor costs for installation, as contractors must spend time blending colors or applying them separately. Specialty epoxies or metallic coatings also add to material costs as well as labor.
Design Complexity - The more complex your project, the higher the costs for both materials and labor. Customized elements like embedded objects, decorative saw cuts, stenciled designs, and the installation of metal divider strips may increase the total cost for both materials and labor substantially - but the results will look amazing!
Polishing - The amount of polishing it will take to achieve your desired finish can be a large factor in cost for polished floors as this equates to time and labor.
Current Condition of the Floor - Existing concrete floors that are cracked or damaged will require patching or surface preparation to be done before decorative finishes can be applied. Surface preparation such as cleaning, grinding, removing adhesives or stains, and crack or spall repair can add as much as $2 per square foot to the overall cost of the floor. If a full resurfacing is needed on top or repairs, expect to tack on another $2 to $3 per square foot, for a total $4 to $5 per square foot increase.
Floors on Grade vs. Above-Grade Installations - Decorative concrete floors that are installed on raised decks or subfloors will need a cement underlayment installed before the finished floor can be applied. Typically installers put down a series of products including waterproofing and metal lathe, before applying a concrete overlay and the final decorative color, finish and sealing coats. These applications can add another $2 to $3 per square foot to the cost of the floor.
● Moisture-Vapor Transmission - Some floors have a high level of moisture-vapor transmission that will need to be remedied before most decorative coatings, overlays or sealers can be applied. This is usually not an issue with stained or polished concrete floors, although it can affect the color. Learn more about problems caused by excess moisture-vapor transmission.

Lifetime Cost
When comparing the various flooring options, it’s important to consider costs and maintenance over the lifetime of the floor and not just the initial price tag. Due to concrete’s durability, longevity and low maintenance needs, many flooring options that may be initially cheaper to install will actually end up being more expensive in the long run - requiring extensive routine maintenance, refinishing or replacement.

Resale Value
Another consideration is an increase in resale value that concrete flooring provides. If you are planning on selling your home in the future, you have no idea what the future owners will want for flooring. If you’ve installed carpet and they want hardwoods, they’ll have to consider the cost and time to remove and dispose of the carpet and may ask for a decrease in the purchase price to do so. With existing decorative concrete floors, new owners can install wood, carpet, tile or any other flooring right on top without losing time and money removing existing flooring.
15. Are concrete floors prone to cracking?  The most common objection to concrete floors is the potential for cracking. However, some people actually love the rustic, organic look that can be achieved by staining the floor and leaving minor random cracks exposed. If cracks are perceived as an eyesore, microtoppings and Epoxy Systems offer the ability to hide them under a smooth, new surface that can accept a wide array of decorative treatments, including staining, stamping, and stenciling.
16. Are concrete floors cold and damp?   Concrete can be cold, but no more so than ceramic tile or natural stone flooring. Plus, it’s possible to warm up concrete floors by taking advantage of concrete’s ability to store and radiate heat. For example, you can embed radiant heating cables in concrete floors to keep them toasty warm in the winter. You can also design your home to maximize the amount of sunlight entering through windows in the winter, allowing concrete floors to absorb and radiate the heat ...
Concrete floors won’t become damp unless they aren't insulated properly or the slab is built on a poorly drained subgrade. In properly constructed newer homes, today's building codes typically require installation of a vapor barrier under concrete slabs to block moisture migration and that feeling of dampness.
17.  Are concrete floors loud and hard on the feet?  Concrete is a hard material, so it won't cushion or "give" under bare feet. But concrete's hardness is also what contributes to its durability and abrasion resistance. In a commercial or warehouse setting, hard is good. You need a hard surface that can stand up to forklift traffic and heavy foot traffic. For a residential floor, you can help cushion concrete with area rugs, which are easier to clean than wall-to-wall carpet. While concrete may be hard, it's not abrasive to the feet, especially if it's polished or has a smooth finish.
18.  Are concrete floors loud and hard on the feet?  Concrete is a hard material, so it won't cushion or "give" under bare feet. You need a hard surface that can stand up to forklift traffic and heavy foot traffic. While concrete may be hard, it's not abrasive to the feet, especially if it's polished or has a smooth finish.
19.  Are concrete floors loud? Concrete floors can be loud and produce an echo effect, but no more so than ceramic tile, natural stone flooring, and some hardwood or bamboo floors. You can muffle the echo effect by using sound-absorptive materials in the room, such as area rugs, curtains, pillows and wall fabrics.
20. Are decorative concrete floors expensive? When compared with high-end floor coverings, such as ceramic tile, slate and marble, decorative concrete is often an economical alternative. Plus, skilled concrete artisans can duplicate the look of these pricier materials. The life expectancy of a concrete floor will also far surpass that of low- to mid-priced floor coverings, such as carpeting, vinyl tile and wood laminates. That means in the long run you can save money because you'll never need to rip out and replace worn or damaged flooring.
21. Is decorative concrete flooring maintenance-free? While concrete floors are relatively easy to maintain, compared with other types of floor surfaces, they aren't completely maintenance free. How much maintenance your floor will need largely depends on the amount of traffic it receives. The maintenance needs of a residential floor will be much different than those for a floor in a high-traffic commercial or retail environment.

In most cases, residential floors experience light foot traffic, and a simple cleaning regimen of occasional sweeping and damp mopping will keep concrete floors looking like new for many years. Protecting concrete floors with a good sealer and a coat of floor finish or wax will make them even more resistant to stains, chemicals and abrasion. In areas of heavy traffic, such as entrances and foyers, you can reduce maintenance and wear and tear by using floor mats, both inside and outside of the entryways .
22. Are concrete floors slippery? As with other hard flooring surfaces such as vinyl, linoleum, marble or ceramic tile floors, concrete floors can become slippery when wet. Applying a high-gloss sealer to protect and enhance decorative concrete may also reduce traction somewhat, but that's easily remedied by mixing a nonslip additive into the stain or sealer before application.
What about polished concrete? When kept clean and dry, polished concrete floors are generally no slicker than plain concrete surfaces. And they tend to be less slippery than waxed linoleum or polished marble.
23. Do concrete floors look too industrial? Certainly plain, unadulterated gray concrete can be perceived as sterile and "industrial." However, anyone who has seen a concrete floor enriched by a brown or earth-toned stain knows that concrete can be made to look warm and inviting. In fact, brown is the most popular color choice for concrete floors.
